  • Went today and enjoyed the food! Had a 20 minute wait on Friday night. We ordered paniyaram (delicious), masala dosa, podi dosa (was meh, hardly any podi, tasted like a plain dosa), mysore masala dosa (ok, hardly any chutney applied),idli sambar (comes with 3 idlis unlike other restaurants which served only 2), medu vada sambar (again 3 pieces), and coffee (delicious). The atmosphere was pleasant and staff was friendly.

  • We had a lovely lunch today at Chennai Eats- the Mysore Dosa was so crispy and flavourful and it comes with an amazing tomato chutney I had to ask for more of! Then we had Tadka Dal and an eggplant dish which were both delicious. The Dal was so comforting and had a lovely combination of spices. We left very full and happy but I left my purse in the restaurant. As soon as I realized I turned around and the server was running in the cold to bring it to me! Such kind customer service it's really appreciated. We have been there a few times for lunch and every time it's so yummy! Enjoy!

  • Wow, such a delicious find. Had heard about this new local gem and it did not disappoint. The flavors were amazing and the dishes well-prepared. Stopped by for early lunch and all tables were full by the time we left. Very clean, and although small, feels actually fairly spacious and still private enough for nice chats. We will be back! And with friends!

  • After 5 years in Boston, I finally found my favorite Indian restaurant — and I can say with full confidence, if you eat here, you’ll fall in love with South Indian food. We started with kuzhi paniyaram — savoury, fluffy, yet crispy bites that I’ve missed so much. They came with a flavor-packed tomato chutney that hit all the right notes. Next up was paratha with chicken salan (and we tried the veg too). The parathas were freshly made — you could feel the difference — and the salan was rich, flavorful, and perfectly creamy with coconut. Then came the star of the night: Talappakatti goat biryani. This one completely surprised me — even better than what I remember. Authentic Tamil Nadu biryani, bursting with ghee, with tender meat that melts in your mouth. This place is truly my new heaven.

  • After having many transformative food experiences during my recent trip to South India, I was very excited to see many familiar items on the Chennai Eats menu. It was difficult to decide on just a couple of things to try -- so many delicious-sounding things! We got the Chettinadu chicken biryani, and it was delicious! Intensely spiced and flavored -- probably one of my favorite biryani ever. It's also huge and filling. We also got the Andhra chili chicken. We were expecting a green chili paste sauce, but they explained that they don't do that style since it's too spicy. This was barely spicy (apparently we got it medium spicy which is the default), and didn't taste like what we expected, but it was still really good! The boneless chicken is tender and the sauce is quite tasty. The parotta was nice and layered and went great with the chicken curry. I also liked the rasmalai. I thought the solid pieces were a bit dense, but the sweet milky liquid was delicious. There are many things I want to try from the menu -- ghee roast and fish curry, to name a few -- so I'll definitely be back! It was pretty packed on a Saturday around 1:30pm, but we were able to get the one empty table.

  • Chennai Eats is a hidden gem for anyone craving truly authentic South Indian flavors. The food is consistently fresh and bursting with the kind of taste that instantly transports you back home to India. Their appetizers, especially the idly and vada are spot on. It’s rare to find that level of authenticity for South Indian food here in Boston. The biryanis are rich, aromatic, and satisfying. I have tried a few varieties so far and can’t wait to get my hands on their Hyderabadi Dum Biryani once it’s back in stock. Prices are reasonable, though I do wish the portion sizes were a bit more generous. Still, the quality makes it worth every penny. The space itself is cozy with limited seating, so it can get crowded during peak hours. My only gripe is with their online ordering system. The website estimates 20–30 minutes for pickup, but during busy lunch or dinner hours, it often takes longer once you arrive. I understand the rush, but it would be great if the wait times were updated more accurately to reflect real-time demand. Overall, Chennai Eats delivers an exceptional culinary experience that’s hard to beat. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a taste of South India in the Boston area.
